First of all its just a idea that comforts people, as is god, and it has no scientific proof. There is also no god because there was never a beginning. Time itself is mearly an illusion, it just makes it so it doesn't seem that everything happened at once. There was no beginning or end, it has always and will always be here. There was no beginning. And if there was no beginning there is no god.

All religions have a Utopian Society to grant the believers. People do not want to believe that this is all there is. They want to believe that they have some great afterlife to look forward to after serving the "king, emperor, president etc”. A Catholic, Baptist, Methodist Buddhist, Terrorist, Satanist, and on and on, come out of their places of worship feeling exactly the same -- they have appeased their god/gods and so will attain the afterlife rather that is going to heaven, reincarnation, receiving 30 virgins, becoming dark princes or whatever; it is all the same smear across the table.

strangestorm's ignorance is a common behavioral trait found in many (not all) that believe in a god/gods. Generally when someone is insecure about their faith they will attack rather than put up a sound argument.

It is not possible to prove the existence of the supernatural, i.e., "God", using science. Science can only test what can be observed and measured. How do you measure "God"? In order to do that, you have to define what "God" is, and if it is not measurable, then science can neither prove nor disprove its existence.

I think there are flaws in your reasoning as well - you don't know if there was no beginning - and you couldn't possibly know as you weren't there to observe it. As to whether or not there is an end, matter is inherently unstable - in about 20 billion years matter will start to collapse - that WILL be an end. Proving the universe is eternal is not possible in our very limited lifetimes, and is very unlikely given present knowledge about the instabilty of matter in the long term.

As to why so many people believe in "creationism", it is what they have been told to believe, and leaves the creation of the universe a great wonderful "cloud of mystery". As for me, I think that the creation of the universe was natural, and is still a miracle - how many of us can create a universe?

(physical reality) - (empirical reality) = faith

The average person has below average intelligence and is comfortably ignorant. Faith is destroyed if it works. If you have faith you can only be denied. Test of faith! Now, the fat and juicy part:

1)That which supports religion supports religion.
2)That which ignores religion supports religion.
3)That which contradicts religion supports religion - test of faith!
4)Anybody who criticizes is thereby proven unqualified to comment - and must be destroyed lest god(s) take offense.

many people believed in creationism because nothing in science has a full proof that evolution really happens. about god, you will never know him because your heart is unpure. you don't believed in the beginning because you never had a pleasant life since you were a kid.
