I'm not sure that a "reason" for life can be given without any appeal to an ideology. I would state the question: What is the best life that a human being can live? What is the good life and how are we to live in order realize the highest human good? Every man/woman in the world asks this question of themselves every day. I don't think anyone ever does anything except that they think it will be good for them so to do. I have read your question and am answering it because I think it is the best thing I can do at this moment. When I get up to go to work tomorrow, it will not be for the work, but because I think it best to have a pay check at the end of the week. When I go to bed tonight and stop answering this question, it will be because I think it is best for me to get some sleep so I can go to work, so I can get my check and answer more questions.

not being ideological we are here to help others. i mean from what i have seen even in other peoples lives when a person is continually thinking of others first they are a lot more fulfilled. also it is proven fact that people that have hope survive better through horrid situations. for instance out of those that survived the Holocaust those that continually were optimistic and had hope were the ones that lived.

My reason for life may or may not be my own. It is hard not to bring theologogy into a picture when it hooks your worldly being. It does depend on what you believe as your divinity.
As for me, I believe I was designed to teach and to write and to be fortunate enough to follow a particular set of paths of my choosing (free will). I believe that we do often make mistakes and although God knows the paths we could take, like any good parent, he allows us to choose those paths for ourselves. Most of the time, I know the path my sons will choose, but I deliberatly turn away and am not shocked when they do take that path, and on the other hand, I am delightfully surprised when they do take the right course of action.
So, I suppose watching people around me grow and learn and watching myself learn is my reason for being and I am sorry if I disappointed by bringing religion into the picture, but even science has not disproven religion could plausibly exist.

My reason for life is not a look into our own personal future. This would be meaningless. It is to learn as a species what worked in the past and what did not work in the past. When it comes down to it we are animals disconnected from nature. The number one and only rule of nature is survival.so ironically we live to die so that us as a species can survive

Honestly I think that what keeps us here is that sense and hope that there is something better out there or something to look forward too! And we are often selfish and why would someone die when they could gain more by living! Just a thought

My purpose is:
1. To have experience.
2. To learn from that experience, and
3. To enjoy the process.

I was dropped here by my mother, I did not volunteer. As for reasons, I want to survive it. And I want to do my best just because it feels good and might matter later.

haha funny. i've never once thought to myself i want to live nor did i once think to myself i want to die. I think my reason is to fulfil a promise i made, to be with that 'someone' that i couldnt be with before. I have to find that person because that's both of our wish.
