I have friends that graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco: http://www.baychef.com/ Their time there was a blast according to them, and they found a steady well paying job before they even graduated. Most work for top Hotels like the Marriott in San Francisco.

I have another friend that went to CIA. He loves it there and recommends it greatly.

It's recommended that one works in a restaurant kitchen for at least one year before going to culinary school. The better students at culinary school get the better interships once they have completed classes. The reason is of course they have more advanced skills than students who have limited cooking skills. Okay, once you understand that, the Culinary Institute of America, CIA, in Hyde Park, New York is the best. Following that are the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan and Johnson and Wales, Providence, Rhode Island.
