I think he listens to whomever tells him what he wants to hear.

Did you ever stop to think that Bush gets more than 1 opinion?
How many generals, intelligence and other military advisors does he get advice and opinions from. And you think because 1 disagrees, he should shut the whole thing down?
My guess is he gets dozens of opinions, with several different recommendations, not just go or no go.
Remember the Cuban missile crisis. Kennedy was advised to conduct an air strike, invade, blockade, negotiate, do nothing. Many options provided by many advisors. What makes you think it is different with Bush?

I have to wonder why, you didn't include the rest of that article, that said, he
Was sceptical about the surge, unless it were accompanied by counterpart 'surges' by the Iraqi government and the other, nonmilitary agencies of the U.S. government.

Don't ya think that kind of throws your edited post in a completely different light.
Why would the president care about Halliburton ?
He has no connection to it.
Cheney broke all connections to it, before he became Vice President.
Oh yes, you didn't know, that Cheney assigned ALL his stock options to a Gift Trust that he has no control over, that is set up to donate all profits from the sale of those stock options to charity.
He did that two days before he assumed office.

he is obviously more concerned with making haliburton the richest company in the world,they get 100 dollars a bag to do laundry for the soldiers.

Well any leader who is not "skeptical" about sending troops to a combat zone is not fit to be a leader.
