I have this friend and she's so perfect, it's a little creepy. She's blond, gorgeous, ultra-smart, always turns in her homework, the whole shebang. The problem is, she knows it. And then there's me, my dark brown hair hanging in tendrils around my less than adorable face, tripping over thin air, doodles all over my arms, worried about that Spanish/Math/English/Science/History/Health project that I forgot about until just now, five minutes before it's due. The problem is, she knows it. She knows she's better than me in every possible way. She has this annoying way she says "Oh my god!" with rolled eyes that she reserves for when she wants to put herself above me. When I doodle on my arms. When I'm picking the scab that I got running into my dresser or falling down the stairs. I'm at least as smart as her, I just choose not to show it. (School is not exactly my top priority) Today, after finding out that I learned Spanish present tense faster than her, she was all. "You know, if you work

ed a little harder, you could be in AP Spanish with me." I less than politely asked her why I might possibly want to work a little harder so that I could work way harder in AP. But it hurt. It was as if she was saying, "You know, if you were a little more like me, you could be better." Sorry, not really a question in there, I just really needed to vent.

I'll bet that you know that people are all different with all sorts of gifts. Just reading this question (which isn't a question, of course) tells a person that you are a gifted writer with an interesting view of life. You might not be the "perfect" girl, but I think you know that you're a lively, interesting one.

It's funny when you find out that the things that really count in high school don't count for much in the rest of your life. I won't tell you that exquisite blondes don't have a pretty good time and it would make no sense if I told you that every excellent student falls on their face when they get out into the working world. I will tell you that there are skills that can actually be trouble in school but which are very valuable in making a good life for yourself afterwards.
Your sense of humor, your creativity, and your independent point of view will help you, but working hard is one thing that your friend does that would help you, too.

Your friend sounds stuck-up and bratty. You said that school is not your #1 priority, and thats fine if thats what you want, but she loves to rub it into your face that she THINKS she is better than you. (I know what you mean with venting, its fine =]) You need to talk to her, and give it to her! She has made you feel like crap and you've taken it, you need to tell her how it is and how meanly she is treating you. If she really is your friend then she will really try to stop. If she just rolls her eyes and walks huffy away, then tell her your friendship is over!!!! And she just thinks she is better than you... Everyone is beautiful on the inside and out, and you are a MUCH more beautiful person than her because she is mean!! True beauty shines from within. If she is not willing to stop being a brat (which some people are just like that if they are spoiled etc) then hang out with some new, great friends!!! You just gotta open your eyes, and find them, they're waiting!!!!!!

I know you think that you are not as pretty as her on the outside, but I believe anybody can be beautiful. Pull up your hair, it shows your pretty face, but some mascara and shadow on to make your eyes pop! Maybe get a haircut to thicken your hair!!!

I believe in you!!!!!!
Good luck!

Some girls always have a "beta" version of themselves to make themselves look better. You say that this friend is perfect but if she is putting you down and acting embarassed by you, then she obviously has some deeply-rooted insecurities of her own. She sounds like a perfectionist and it's easier for her to point out your imperfections than her own.

Anyway, you need to stop focusing on comparing yourself to her superficial perfection and stand up for herself. If she chides you for doodling on your arm, ask her why it bothers her. If she gives you unsolicited advice about schoolwork, tell her that you're happy with your grades and aren't really looking to improve them. If it gets really bad and you feel like she's constantly criticizing you, ask her why she hangs out with you in the first place. Then ask yourself the same question. Certainly the friendship is worth saving if it goes back a long way or you like her for reasons that you haven't mentioned here. But if that isn't the case and she is a hypercritical perfectionist who makes herself feel better by putting you down, then find friends who like your quirks and idiosyncracies. Good luck!

Woah. that's so cool and freaky on the comparable time! Becuase my left eye is in simple terms about blind at the same time as my precise eye is in simple terms ok, yet nevertheless fantastically undesirable. if I close my precise eye and seem at some thing with my left eye i will see yet a blur. I constantly squint on the board at college 2 see issues when I forget approximately my glasses, besides the incontrovertible fact that it in simple terms hurts my eyes. that's somewhat astounding although... see human beings all have powers that they do no longer even understand of. =]

Why are you friends with her? She sounds sooooo perfect so why would she need friends?

People like that usually end up in the gutter anyway. Don't care what she thinks. Start ignoring her and hang out with others, then maybe she'll wonder what is up.

Or, stop worrying what she thinks.

o0o. I hate them. My friend was like that and It ruined our relationship. You are letting her get to you and that is why she is being such an uber ***** because she knows that it will break you down. You have to make it seem like it doesn't bother you at all and eventually she will get so tired of trying to piss you off when it is obviously not working that she will give up and crawl to you-trying to be friends again. Works everytime. Those kind of girls are the attention seekers. The future drug dealers and anorexics.

Your imperfection is what humans are. If you organize better, if you write a schedule and stick to it, if you work on your image, You can improve. However, her perfectionism will destroy her. Enjoy your road to improving, and accept not being perfect, but trying hard. It's gratifying. She will not be able to accept anyone who is not perfect which is entrapping. Feel sorry for her as you improve yourself, but tell her nothing, and don;t criticize her trying to be perfect..
