If you know the location of the problem file....
Re-start your pc.... press F8 (and keep pressing non stop)when the pc starts from the very beginning of the boot-up.

Options for "Safe-Mode" will come up... select "Safe-mode without networking" once done log into you system

It's look strange but it's cool. Fine the file and delete it.

While in safe-mode you can get rid of any* virus.

Re-start pc as per normal and check the virus has been deleted.

Scan again and try and remove in safe mode.

In general, Windows does not allow the deletion of files when they are in use. However, Safe Mode will only load a minimum amount of drivers and services to run Windows, giving removal a better chance. Scan again and attempt to delete while your computer is in safe mode.

To access Safe Mode, reboot then repeatedly press the F8 key at the first screen. When finished removing that pest, reboot again to return to normal mode.

I have Roadrunner they have a free EZ PEst Patrol and it will run a weekly scan and delete your virus for you or you can do it daily! Or you can go into safe mode and find the file and delete it and rebootthe computer oh, press F8 and over to get the Safe mode option. sure hope this helps you out!

Over the past couple of years ive visited friends and family preparing there computers for safe surfing and general housekeeping of there computer, not to mention friends of there friends.

Here I have compiled a list of (in my opinion) probably the best and safest programs to use. These updated regularly will protect and maintain most computers.

Obviously, safe and careful surfing will reduce the visits of nasty viruses and malware/spyware.

All the below programs are free:
Antivirus: AVG, Avast
One of the above coupled with a decent software Firewall.

Firewalls: Zonealarm, Comodo, Kerio
Remember, only one Antivirus and one Firewall to one Computer.
Do not highlight your risk to conflicts by trying to use more than one Antivirus and firewall.

Now we have the AV and Firewall protecting you, lets move on to stopping the Malware/Spyware slowing the computer or even redirecting you to those nasty locations.

Antispyware:
Defender, AVGAS, Spywareblaster,
Spywareterminator with realtime protection.
Superantispy, Asquared

Now lets cleanup the computer of those tracking cookies and possible adware and search engines that may redirect your browser.

Spybot Search and Destroy,
Adaware, Cwshredder

To clean your temp files/cookies and tidy those obsolete registry paths after removal of various software.

Registry Mechanic (very good but not free)
Ccleaner, Regscrubxp, Cleanup

Some are unaware of an alternative browser than Internet Explorer, here are a couple more-with my favourite Firefox
Browsers:

Internet explorer 7, Firefox 2,
Opera,
Netscape
This is basic list of essentials to most online computer users, and by no means need them all.
However to maintain those family/single user computers-I believe some of these are a must.
I hope this helps those who are unaware of the programs available for free.
No doubt this will be added to by the forum members, there are a lot more helpful programs out there, but most of the time ….not needed.

As a final contribution to this,if you feel you are infected with Malware/Spyware or possibly a Virus or Trojan resulting in a slow or unresponsive computer…please download:

HIJACKTHIS
Run this and post the scan log

Malwareremoval
And let the experts advise you accordingly, please be patient-you will get a reply and help in due course.

NB: obviously no program is foolproof, but these are the best around at this time.

Hope this information comes in useful for some.

I think you need to uninstall whatever anti-virus program you have, completely. Then, go to Grisoft.com, and download : AVG Free Edition 7.5 Anti Virus, get its latest updates, then shut off any other program you have running, and then run a full computer scan. When the program identifies the culprit, have it quarantined.

You may need to start your computer in safe mode and then run your anti virus software again. Some viruses and spy ware can't be removed while running windows in normal mode.

Try download Avast antivirus. It should be able to delete it and fix it all up. Good luck.

Download the Home version for free, install and choose to scan when next restart.
