some fish sit on the bottom -- its hard to tell -- is the tank kept up? someone should be doing water changes of about 20% every week. chemicals can build up if this isn't done and it can be hard on fish.

most fish problems are solved with a routine cleaning schedule.

What size is average? What kind of fish? Some fish just lie on the bottom all day and swim all night. Your question lacks important information.

Fish tend to swim in layers. there are top feeders, fish that like to hang out in the middle and fish that hang out at the bottom. You probably have bottom feeders. You want a mix in your tank.

the two at the bottom are called bottom feeders they play a big part in keeping the tank clean of yuckier stuff along with filters and proper tank maintenance remember dead fish float belly up

No they won't die soon you've obviously put them in a tank that has enemy's meaning they can die if attacked by other fish but if you separate them i bet they will be better. Also your fish may be bottom feeders and they are just eating food off the bottom of the tank.

well it depends on the type of fish because if they are the kind of fish that like to sit on that bottom of the tank then they shouldnt die

They may be ill. You didn't mention what kind of fish. Take a look and tell me if you can spot anything except this behaviour ie marks on their scales, etc.
