I starred this question because it's just so cool and different.
BTW, in order for potatoes to have negative gravity, they'd need negative mass. If we could find a way to compress about a ton (or -1 tons) of potatoes to the size of a small pellet, that pellet could be used to reduce the overall mass of any cargo by 1 ton. Of course, too many potatoes and your cargo will fall up into space and be lost forever.
It could also be used in space travel - if the mass of the spacecraft is exactly canceled with potatoes, we'd have a space ship with zero mass, and hence faster-than-light travel could become a reality.

turn your plate upside down and eat off the ceiling,,,,,you could possibly nail a table and chairs up the too,,,you wouldn't even need to strap yourself into the chair but just simply put a couple of extra large potatoes in your pocket,,,,remember to remove them before going outside or you will float to the moon.

This thought has never crossed my mind and I am sorry I saw it in your question. You also would be hanging upside down from the ceiling--I mean the floor--and denominators would become numerators. A walk outside would be nice--it is a pretty day across the country.

Do plates already have negative gravity?
Isn't that why you have to put the food on top of them?!?

That would apply to chips (fries) as well...how would you get the vinegar and salt on them? Maybe you would have to have flying fish with them...It would make it easier for my wife to bring me chips in bed, they would just float upstairs on their own, and the dogs wouldn't be able to catch them....Ooo good idea.
