Normaly, it takes sound about 5 s to go 1 mile; (I am assuming you are ON the ship with the fog horn). So the sound had to get TO the iceberg, and BACK, to you in 5 seconds which means its 1/2 mile away.

2.5*(speed of sound) unit/second

At sea level, at a temperature of 21 °C (70 °F) and under normal atmospheric conditions, the speed of sound is 344 m/s (1238 km/h, or 769 mph, or 1128 ft/sec or 661.5 kts).

1128 ft/sec, so 1128*2.5 = 2820 ft.

2.5 is half the time because it makes a round-trip to there and back again.

Sound travels ~0.2 mile/second. Work out the round trip.
