I already have two boys age 10 and 13. My boyfriend does not have any kids right now and we are ready to take things to the next level. I am 31 years old, am I too old to have a child? If not, what IS too old? I pretty much know the answer, I just want to make sure I make the right decision. Thanks

P.S. Been married before, neither of us believe in that quite yet. We are common law... one day we will but not until we NEED to... Not everyone believes in Marriage first, children later.

LOL :) I'm 30 and pregnant with my first! You might *FEEL* old but you're definitely not too old. Unless you have some medical reasons why you shouldn't conceive, go for it. If you can afford it, you have a good relationship, and you're emotionally prepared for another baby, go and have one. Feel free to email me if you want, tmdela@yahoo.com (or message me) for any 30+ questions. I don't think there are even any risks until after 35, and women in their late 30s (38, 39) are having kids. If you had 2 prior kids without any complications, I think you'll find this to be old hat :)

Best Regards (and good luck trying)!

Well this is something you should discuss with your husband not Yahoo answers! I would say have another child if you can afford the 3 you already have AND if your husband wants another kid. If you are not married or are single I suggest NOT having more kids. Wait until you are with a man who wants another child. If your husband doesnt want more kids then no dont have more kids. You BOTH have to want another child and have the money to support them all. Personally I dont have kids yet and im 31. I hopefully will be married soon and will probably have my first child at age 33 or 34. So you arent too old yet for more kids.

I read an article today actually about women in their thirties having babies and how they often think they can be forty or fifty because stars do it and because some lady had twins and she was sixty something. The article said a lot more of these ladies than we know have had expensive fertility treatments. It was on msn health. I dont know its validity and it didnt say anything about 31 so i dont know just thought id throw that out there. Id say if you both want it then go for it but if he doesnt then no and if he wont before you will stop being able to have kids and its really important to you youll have to consider your options.

31 is definetly not too old to have a child! I am 31 and still trying for my first. Fertility decreased after the age of 26 but as long as you have no health problems /fertility issues now then there should be no problem for you. You'll know when you're too old. Women in their 40's are still naturally having children so it is up to you and your partner.

I think 32 is a perfect age to have another baby. My mom had my at 19, my brother at 22 and then my little sister at 31. She was a MUCH better mom to my little sis than she was to us just b/c of her age and maturity level. She was more patient and spent more time with her and alot less stressed about life in general. Not to say she was a bad mom to us, she was just better equipped at 31 than at 19. Also, I was 11 and my brother was 8 which is close in age to your kids now so we got to help out alot and it was really fun having a baby in the house. Good luck! :-)

I don't think 31 is too old. My aunt just found out she was pregnant with her first and she's 32! They say when you're over 30, there's a slightly higher risk of something going wrong but as long as you feel up to it and your Dr. gives you the all clear, go for it! Good luck!

My wife was 32 when we got married and we have had 3 kids since. She is 39 and wants one more. might not happen... I'd like it, but finaces, job and health are not the best, otherwise I'd go for it.
31 is not too old at all.
I believe you should be married if you intend to have kids, but that's another discussion.

You are not too old. However, if you want to have a happy, and healthy child, you need to be happily married first. Children need the security of happy and healthy parents. It is essential to their quality of life. I'm not talking how many things they have or any of that. Quality of life is having an emotionaly stable home. If you have that, then everything else just comes together.

Best wishes...

31 is young nowadays to have a child. Did you hear about the 67 year-old woman who gave birth to a child last month? Her daughter is 29. As long as you're healthy, you have a long way to go before you'll be "too old."

nope, not too old. after the age of 35 risks & problems (such as down's syndrome) are more likely, but not a certainty. Right now I have a friend that's 38 & has a very healthy pregnancy; I have a 40-something aunt that did ivf & had twins (one did have down's syndrome, the other was perfectly "normal"), then got preggers naturally right after.
