A majority of Iraq is desert and the sun shines abundantly. What better place to start...Oh thats right bush is president and he thinks oil is the only energy source. And solar panels in a desert would make toooooooooooo much sense.

Sorry, the President invaded Iraq, not me.

If you think that the President of the United States actually represents my thought, I’m sorry.

You'll figure it out, or you wont!

Why dump money into an expensive energy source? Yeah, it may be an "investment", but consider all the money we are already spending on the "rehabilitation" of that area.

Solar power is way too expensive to implement on a large enough scale to make a difference. That, and solar panels break too easily. It doesn't make any sense to install solar power facilities in an area that is still in the middle of conflict.

Maybe in ten years...

I think more Americans need to consider this. We went solar on our house and shop several years ago and it is wonderful. No worries about supply running out, no EPA regulations and best of all, the government has not figured out how to tax it!
It would be great for Iraq but, if we can keep power and water to the construction site for the 104 acre embassy, we should be able to get the Iraqi people some electricity and water.
