No one can be sure, of course but I would believe that Lincoln would be disghusted with many of them as would Theodore Roosevelt.

The Radical Republicans were extremely religious. In fact, religion supported many of their abolitionist arguments. Clearly, there are some differences between 19th century Republicans and 21st century Republicans. After all, Republicans in the 21st century have to contend with a new set of realities. However, just some short reading about the GOP around the Civil War might show you how similar both are. Check out my sources list for a book recommendation about this subject.
I thought I'd add that the Civil War Republicans would have seen the Democrats as advocates of class warfare who are trying to pit one group against another. Republicans thought labor and capital should harmonious and that unions bordered on the immoral. It's not that Republicans-1865 and Republicans-2007 are exactly alike, but they're a lot closer ideologically than to the Democrats.

I think Republicans of old would see the religious right as a group of normal Americans the extreme left has picked on. I don't know Lincoln's mind.

There is no difference in Republicans of yesteryear and today. Case in point is back in the 20's, when the Republicans and robber barons ran us into the great depression. Do some research and look at the parallels of then to now. Can't tell the difference!

Remember that the country was a lot more relgious in the past than it is today. The pentacaustal movement is a bit extreme, but it's relatively small.

Lincoln was more of a democrat. the parties had a major shift sometime after the civil war. but his ideas were way more liberal than any Conservative wanted. that's why he was shot.
i think most politicians of the past would cry about the state of politics of today.

Lincoln would have kicked it into high gear and took out most of the whining liberals as well.
