Well in most cases the one who leaves and has nothing to do with the child is the man. It doesn't really matter why it is a broken home just that it is. My son hasn't seen or heard from his dad in 4 years. My Brother-in-law and his daughter haven't seen her mother in almost 3 years. Some people just don't care what happens to their children. They just figure oh he's with his mother he'll be fine. When you read all those stories about dead beat dads, just take the advice they give to the mothers. You are now the mom and the dad. The advice given to the single mothers could also be given to the single fathers, only difference is you're a guy. You should start a web site for single dads, you could probably get a lot of good feed back from other single fathers who are in your position. Who knows it could help.

I hear what your saying .I have been saying that for the longest time . I'm a single dad and there's no help for a dad what so ever and no there isn't more single moms anymore like it use to be Go to the court house and see all the dead beat moms standing in line because they don't pay there support . It shocked the hell out of me there where actually more woman then men . The problem is there's Oprah Winfrey and all the other dikes telling woman to leave there family . If a man argues with his wife or don't do what she tells him to do they start screaming abuse .If you don't buy that skimpy dress that's showing her a*s they cry abuse .
Ive had allot of girlfriends after my ex took off with some crack head as soon as they start telling me what they want I tell them i want is for them to hit the door . My kids and i are just fine without some controlling woman telling me how i should be to hell with them . I swear woman think that thing is gold lined .If i need it i can get it for 20 bucks
The united states is nothing but a woman's county anymore that's why everything is so screwed up they take jobs and work for peanuts just like the illegal immigrants do screwing up every ones pay . I could go on and on and i know all the woman are going to give me thumbs down but hey screw them just like they say screw us.

Use "single father" for your searches. It's definitely a stereo-type that doesn't apply as much these days. My brother goes through this all the time, he even told the mediators during his divorce that the prejudice against fathers was pretty blatant in the courtroom. He loves his son more than anything in the world and anyone can see that. His wife is the one that walked out on him and left their son at home.

Because most are women. For decades, if not centuries, it was a given in our culture here in America that men worked outside the home and women worked as child rearers. When the mid-1900s came around a divorces became more contested, then again, or still, women were considered to be the ones who took care of the children and men had to pay them to do that.
However, having said all of that, things are changing dramatically. It's just taking books and magazines a good long time to catch up. Today, in many areas, men demand and receive 50% of child custody rights. In the recent case of Brittany Spears she was threatened with losing her children and having to pay tens of thousands of dollars in child support unless she got her act together and went to rehab (she did). things are changing, but slowly.

Most custodial parents are women. These sites are geared for the majority.
The good news is that the information on those sites can still help you help your kids.
There are more single dads out there than ever before. That means you can do research and try to find a group or website. If you can't find anything in your area, start a group.

I don't know the answer to your question, but wanted to applaud you for being a good dad! I was a single parent to my daughter for the first 17 years of her life, not easy! I do believe that single Dads are right up there with us Moms today! I as a mother could not imagine giving birth to a child and walking away from them, to think one could breaks my heart! Children need both of their parents, my daughter has suffered with not having her Dad and I without having my own. I am happy to know you are with yours!

you have tried maximum of issues that have not worked... i know your perseverance. the 1st element you ought to do is get him off the medicine and alcohol. positioned him in rehab. while he receives out, it incredibly is an entire new worldwide of supervision and self-discipline. Do you have a brother or cousin who ought to grant good male management for him? or possibly a chum out of your church? single mothers prefer help to develop their young babies. Supervision, supervision, supervision! in case you won't be able to be there 24/7, make some preparations so as that there is somebody to computer screen him. Is he in touch in any activities or workouts? He needs an outlet for his power. self-discipline, self-discipline, self-discipline! What are the implications while he behaves violently? while he cusses at you or everybody else? do away with each little thing from his room different than the mattress. while he misbehaves, he is going to his room. If he places a hollow interior the wall, make him patch it and paint it. returned and returned returned if needed. i in my opinion think of ADHD & bipolar are over-clinically determined and the medicine they use to regulate those ailments are actually not helpful in any respect on sufferers who do no longer probable have the affliction. have you ever appeared into determination drugs? Has he been examined for allergies and nutrition sensitivites? Oppositional defiant affliction is in common terms a complex call for asserting that your infant does no longer know authority. it incredibly is not an ailment and might't be taken care of with drugs. Counseling a 13 year previous in common terms helps if the youngster is cooperative. Yours isn't. you would be able to ought to place your individual practise on carry till you get this boy under administration. i visit repeat. start up with rehab...as quickly as he's off the medicine and acohol, deliver him abode to a worldwide with consistent supervision and many self-discipline. seek for help with this...you could no longer do it on my own. good luck.
