"Because higher tax helps those in need, guarantees lower healthcare costs, better roads, highways, etc. It's called "working towards the betterment of society"."
Thats a load of bs.

Every time the size of the government has been enlarged there has been a Republican in the White House. Look it up.
The biggest tax increases in history were during Republican presidencies. (Read my lips "No new taxes")
If we do change it how about the Republicans don't get to pay any taxes but have to pay tolls on the roads the Democrats taxes paid for or we could send you a bill if your house catches fire and the Democrat paid for firefighters have to put it out. When that punk down the street robs you don't come crying to the police unless you are willing to pay a consultation fee for the police paid for by the Democrats.
Of course when you buy food in the store we will have one section for Democrats and one for Republicans. The Democratic food will be safe and inspected by the FDA but the Republicans haven't paid for the FDA so they take their chances.
When a Republican loses his job we will say "oh well, too bad". But since a Democrat has paid for the EDD they will get job search help and unemployment checks.
By the way when you Republicans retire don't count on Social Security. That is a tax and will only be paid for by Democrats. I hope you have a nice retirement fund built up.
When you become termanilly ill and lose your insurance coverage because you are no longer working I hope you have money in the bank to cover the hundreds of thousands of dollars it can cost you. You don't want to pay for any form of publicly financed or assisted health care.
Well good luck in your new life, a life without taxes or much else.

Ok. Here is what we will do. Split the country in half. One half will be Republicans the other half Democrats.
The Republicans will pay no tax whatsoever and receive absolutely no service from their government. There will be no money for your precious national defense, no money for your retirement, no money for education, or other social service programs, no money for anything that a state needs, and the deficit will run sky high.
The Democrats will pay a ridiculously low tax (too high by your standards) and be weighed down by several programs that do not work.
Your question is pointless. It is too biased to receive an objective answer. You ask this question based on your own ignorance of economics. Take an economics class and learn something.

The Democratic platform is slightly watered-down socialism, and socialism means government involvement, 'cradle to grave.' That requires a lot of taxes, and a lot of government. The goal of all that taxes and government is 'social justice' - egalitarian equality of condition for all.
A two-tiered system like that wouldn't work, though. With the Republican tax system presumbably offering low taxes and few benefits, and the Democratic one, hight taxes and many benefits, those with enough income that the cost of providing the benefits they want would be less than the taxes they'd pay under the Democratic system would just jump over to the Republican one. The Democratic system would thus be chronically short of funds.

Yes we should change our tax system. When income tax first began it was only applied to 5% of the population. Now most people are required to pay taxes outragious taxes. Tax the rich. In capitalism it is the "owners of the means of production who live off the labor of the producers." These rich people in Amereica are living off a new form of slavery and the low and middle classes are born to serve and make wealth but not for theirselves.

Actually it's usually the Republicans that create new branches of government. And the Democrats raise taxes to balance the budget after the Republicans over cut taxes, then over spend. Things cost money,(like wars), and it would seem that Republicans don't know how to balance a budget. Except in their private industries.

Ron paul wants to get rid of the income tax and not replace it with any tax. no other candidate would do that. Ron Paul is not a leftist - he is a real conservative.
"Lower taxes benefit all Americans by increasing economic growth and encouraging wealth creation. I’m in favor of cutting everybody’s taxes – rich, poor, and otherwise. Whether a tax cut reduces a single mother’s payroll taxes by forty dollars a month, or allows a business owner to save thousands in capital gains and hire more employees, the net effect is beneficial. Both either spend, save, or invest the extra dollars, which helps all of us more than if those dollars were sent to the black hole known as the federal Treasury. "

When ever the republiCONS are in power they spend like drunken sailor on shore leave, and cut taxes on the weathiest americans and muti-nationals, soaring the national debt. When the democrats are in control, they balance the budget, and pay down the deficit.
If the repulsicans don't want to pay for the country that allows them to be successful, they they can go to China, where they can spread that ol' magic on the communists they love so much.

Excuse me. I guess you haven't read the numbers and I can safely say that you are a liar!
The Repubs are the biggest spenders and the cause for Bigger government. Don't try and pull that BS on us as it is not going to work.
You think people don't know the Bush deficit is at 3 1/2 Trillion, and all the rest of the presidents combined is 4 Trillion.
You are the party of the big spenders, and most of it went to the rich!
And Ronnie was a war criminal (convicted by the World Court and Pardoned by Bush, sold our enemy Iran weapons after he cut and ran from Lebanon after 242 of our military were blown up by Hezbollah! Ronnie ran from the terrorist!
In fact, George Bush and the Pentagon are still selling them f-14 fighter parts!

Only if you also opt yourself out of the protections and services the government provides with those taxes. Call the fire department and they'll ask you if you pay Republican taxes or Democrat taxes. If Democrat, they come, if Republican, they'll tell you to put out the fire yourself.
