I've had an observation during my time using Yahoo answers and I have found that to Yahoo, racism is just the kind of controversy they look for to keep folks logging in. There have been many people, myself included, that have had answers violated and accounts suspended for standing up to opression and racism, yet nothing is done to quell the the rampant hatred plastered across a question and answers forum meant to celebrate and educate people from all cultures and communities. Yahoo is glad to feature celebrities and other dignitaries to discuss subjects from the environment to politics, but how many times have they delt with a subject that rests at the heart of conflict in this country, racism? In a way, they condone racism under their "guidelines", but just as the racists are free to have a vioce, so should I be free to silence them. Is racism worth it's divisive nature to allow for the sake of the 1st ammendment? How can Yahoo change our society for the best?

Should we organize a boycott of Yahoo? How do we make Yahoo accountable for repeated violations of their "guidelines" by racists that simply "re-up" a new profile? Should I worry that Yahoo will suspend my account now, having asked this question?

I have seen a few account deleted due to racism, but it's so easy for them to come back though with a different account, I think their IP address should be deleted!

That's funny that everything was a set-up. I mean, I'd probably say what the other woman said that she won't buy stuff in the store anymore. I understand how those people felt not speaking up; they were scared to. Some just have more guts to speak out and defend the discriminated. I think this video was a little too extreme and don't really think it will go that far, but it's a good example that discrimination DOES happen and some even give "thumbs-up" to it. I love this video. I watched it twice and will probably show it to my siblings. Star!

Racism is a cancer that is consuming this country.I love all races, which i am sure a lot of you don`t agree, but thats why we are in the mess that we are in.I feel that different colors and cultures are what make life interesting and fun, if people would calm down and let "it" happen. We all love music and each culture has wonderful sounds.Same for foods and everything else.We are all in this life together, we all need to do a lot of soul searching and stop this insanity.I agree, anyone breaking the guidelines in here should be kicked out.Your question is a reasonable question, and i know what you mean.no place in my life for racsim, and i do not allow it in my home.

I have been asking this question in many different ways and have gotten no response from Yahoo. The Yahoo Team reads these e-mails. We need to keep writing against racism and hate mail and answering hate mail indicating our disgust with the writers. Sooner or later, Yahoo should get the message.

I think that there should be some type of online petition to ban repeat offenders by their IP address so that they can't create another screen name on the same computer. This won't eliminate ALL of the prejudice, but it would sure take a chunk out of it....

All you have said is true..But this is a problem that we can't expect Yahoo to really do anything about. They would want to allow racist questions to stir things and keep us interested.
And it works too.
We have to accept that most things in the society that we live in is bias against the equality laws that it sets up to fool some people into thinking that they have rights.

Religious people act the same way, anyone who disagrees with their evangelical comments gets reported for abuse and their account suspended by the robots of Y!A.

This is still a free country, and in a free society people of all walks of life participate. If someone offends you here then report them or make a sound rebuttal, but don't look for someone else to fight your battles or subdue someone else's freedoms for your benefit. I don't like all the post I read either and for the most part people don't take those goofballs seriously anyway but that doesn't give me the right to take away their freedom of speech.
