I'd change the lyrics slightly -
"Freedom's just another word for nothing left to do; nothing ain't worth nothing til it's gone."
I used to have a job and walked everywhere...
...now I can't do the walking thing - I don't got no job - and can't even fill all my newly acquired spare time by going for a walk!
No job - disability money coming in - all this empty time on my hands...
I have the freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want - it means nothing because I don't have the physical ability to actually DO whatever, whenever... nothing left to do? or just nothing left that's do-able?
...as for my walking everywhere - it was nothing to me... til now...nothing ain't worth nothing til it's gone...
and it's gone - and it WAS worth something.
I just never thought about it.

Really no way to respond, because you are likely too opinionated to ever be influenced. I'm not a Republican, but I don't see your argument either. Republicans look to uphold the Constitution as much as the Dems, they just see things differently. They strongly push for the right to bear arms, the support the separation of powers, they desire to keep as much as possible on the state level (as opposed to big government), and they desire to have equal protection for all under the laws. Every law we have infringes on Freedom in one way or another, yet it is necessary to protect the people. Would you rather have a country without laws? It's a silly rant you make, but I do support the fact that everyone should get out and vote for the best man, who will look to push the agenda they find meaningful. I'm sick of party line diatribe. Look at the issues and just vote.

To put the classic words of someone elses hand in modern day context, imagine the freedom of when you made your last mortgage payment and you own your house. That's more or less what Mr. K (I can't spell his name and won't try, you know who I mean) meant.

Ask Kris Kristopherson. He wrote the song and has the distinct advantage of being alive.

As someone who has nothing and owes nothing to anybody, I can say she (well, actually Kris Kirstoffenson) were dead on. It's a freedom when you have nothing, and nothing is free.

To me freedom is the ability to chose what I would like to do. It opens the doors of opportunities for all of us.
