The 2 front tires on my honda accord are both bald, and I sort of wanna try changing them myself, as I can buy 2 replacement tires online pretty cheap.....it probably wouldn't cost too much more to just go to a store and have it done but im curious as to if this task can be done easily by myself? What would I need to do, what tools do I need? or should I just stop being cheap and take it to a tire store?

Not unless you're able to bench press a Yaris. Hahahaha....

You have to take it to a tire shop to have them remove it from the rim. It takes a machine to do it.

Sorry bud.

Lol, seriously just take it to a tire store! Go ahead and buy the tires online, but have the tire shop do the work. If you want to save a few bucks, and you have another vehicle, then go ahead and remove the wheels and take them in. Have the shop change the tires and go back home and put the wheels back on yourself. You will save a little, probably not much though.

Otherwise, to actually remove one tire from the rim and put the other on, you really need a tire machine. Sure you could do it yourself, but it would take a lot of muscle to get the old one off and the new one on. I'd say a good hour worth of hard work to muscle them on and off... not really worth it. Do you even have a way to put air in the new tires once you get them on? Or were you planning on driving to the service station to fill them up?

I would buy the tires myself and have the shop do the work. You will save some money, get the tires you want. There are even sites you can purchase the tires yourself, and have them sent directly to the tire shop. Then you just go in and have them put on. Very simple.

Ok so I'm guessing your not a car guy. Well I'm a chick and I've rotated my own tires numerous times. So all you need is a four way and a jack. Position the jack to the car frame and lift it. Then use the four way to unscrew the bolts on the tire. Pop the tire off of there and put the new one on. Also a good piece of information is that when retightening the bolts, make sure you go in a star pattern. That way the tire is straight. If you go in a circle the tire can become crooked which means you can't tighten the bolts correctly. It will mess up the threading on the bolt. Change one side at a time and then lower the jack back down. Its also good to check pressure in all tires when you're done so that they are properly balanced.

Changing a tire is real easy. But to buy just the tire itself and change them is harder because the workers at the Tire Store have a maching that will balance the tire on the rim. Im not sure how to do that I pay for just the balancing (about $30 or less) and then change the tire myself.

You need a jack to raise your car. You probably have one in the trunk. You should have jack stands because it is safer to support a car with jack stands than only a jack. Then you need a tire wrench to remove the wheel/tire from the vehicle. I assume you are going to purchase the tires already mounted on wheels. Otherwise, you may be better off going to a shop to have it done.

You could change them yourself but besides a jack and a tire tool, you would need a tire changer to take the tires off the rims and put on the other rims, and a tire changer is like 1000 bucks or more..in short, take it to the shop.

You would be better off going to a shop, because although it can be done, most tires fight coming off the bead. We had one fellow cut half his face off, because the tire blew up when he was doing it.
