The USA has now had a trade embargo against Cuba for approaching 45 years. Cuba is socialist but is now isolated politically and is no longer a potential base for Russian nuclear missiles. Should the trade embargo be abandoned? What do you think?

most definitely. this embargo is both illegal and criminal, a tool US imperialism uses to coerce Cuban people into a position of servitude to US capital hoarders. it also continues to defy 16 UN General Assembly resolutions calling for ending such criminal embargo. each year, support for the resolution is unanimous; those who usually vote against are the most freedom-loving rogues in the world: Israel, Marshall Islands, Palau, United States.

I have never figured out why it was so important that we embargo Cuba but we needed to do business with the Apartheit gov't of South Africa in order to change it.
If you want to compare the effectiveness of the two approaches, Apartheit ended over a decade ago and Cuba is still one of a very few communist countries in the world.

The difference in Cuba is that Communism works there, which is the opposite to most other places. Nobody is really rich, but nobody is really poor either. It is not a threat to US security and its now time to lift it.
