It used to be a planet, but now it isn't. If we were going to keep Pluto as a planet then to be fair, we would have to include all the other planetary bodies that are as big or bigger than Pluto as planets as well, and there are many. Do we really want to have to learn and memorize the names of fifty new planets? I know I don't!

Pluto used to be considered a planet but it isn't anymore. For some reason it is officially considered a dwarfplanet

No Pluto is not a planet anymore. It is called a dwarf planet. Pluto is smaller than seven of the solar system's moons. So does this help you out?

YES!! Pluto is a planet and always will be. NASA itself does not recognize the IAU's lazy decision to demote it because they didn't want to classify 3 new planets. Pluto has it's own atmosphere, has three moons, orbits the sun, is rounded by hydrostatic equilibrium, and doesn't "cross" Neptunes orbit any more than Neptune crosses it's orbit. It will always be a planet and most people disagree with that decision anyway.

pluto used to be a planet. but then astronmers decided it was to small and to far away to be a planet. the books that say it is a planet are probably older books published before they decided it was a planet. by the way, pluto is now a dwarf planet

It used to be classed as a planet but was downgraded last year, since asteroids have been discovered in our solar system that are larger than Pluto.

For the past 70 years it has been recognized as a planet. According to one organization, it is no longer a planet. It depends on who you ask if it's a planet or not.

I say yes it is, but according to the IAU it's a dwarf planet.

no. Now, it is officially NOT a planet. The books that say that it is are probably just old books. Scientist just recently informed us otherwise.
