Wow, that's some analogy. You know, Lincoln was a Republican. And those that were for slavery, the disollution of THESE United States and then when they lost that war spawned the KKK? Democrats... Makes you wonder. Doesn't it? OUCH!!!!!

humans never agree 100% with each other..Differing viewpoints/ideologies generally fall into groups which is what happens "in politics".
what is "fair" or "right" to you may not be "fair " to me...
example...Dems want to TAX "the rich" to force them to "help" the "poor"...
(other than the fact that no one has really defined the rich/poor), reps generally believe that helping (poor=elderly, orphansdisabled,or those who need a short term carry to get back on their feet),is fine but do not believe/agree that providing "help" for a lifetime(generational wellfare) serves the nation or the economy.. Our form of government allows individuals opportunity and the ability to chose whether they want to pursue xxx or seek to "get a life" using various subsidized "programs" that give low cost gousing food stamps, etc.
A nation that provides for all controlls all ---> socialism/communism manage the population and provide
Capatalistic societies offer opportunity which allows most all who try the ability to "succeed".success varies ..Who wopuld want to achieve anything if what ever they produced/built/ was controlled by the idea that the fruits of their hard work would be seized to fund a welfare program, or fund publication of pamphlets that warn kids not to use drugs,or fund a statue or "art" program for the underprivilidged
.. Humans are diverse, their political ideology differs..a one party system is simply the gov announcing the next set of rules/restrictions...such as if gov believed in global warming, then they could ban outdoor barbequeing..which is exactly what germany has done
Two or more political parties are better despite the arguing and smear/blame campaigns.
One question what does skin color, size etc have to do with anything ? The ability to "do a job" idepends on the skill and ability ; humans ARE different..some can paint what they see others sing on key, others enjoy math or puzzles-->physical appearance does NOT effect an individual's spirit , ability.
or skills they learned or were blessed with.

"It seems like we waste a lot of energy and time fighting each other instead of figuring out who is the better person for the job."
Exactly. Thats the whole purpose of the party system. It is to keep everyone's eye off the ball.

Great piece of mind! I completely agree. Americans become so distracted with splitting themselves into groups that they forget what their main purpose is. I suppose we need some separation because everybody's wants & needs are different, but our country is taking it to levels that defeat the purpose of a "Nation." We're a whole. We should work to help everyone's needs equally, not just our own. Good Insight!

That's right; it could be looked at as the world war is really whites against non-whites. They have control of most things and won't distribute the authority to balance things in the decisions; therefore, they end up abusing everyone else.
The president, congress and everything should be of independent minds. There is no good reason to have more than one group that decides things based on the issues rather than based on what group they belong to.

You know what country had a one party system? Nazi Germany. You know who else? Communist Russia. When you only have one party, no one else can raise their voice in opposition. While the American political system may be flawed, its a hell of a lot better than a one party system... unless you enjoy mass genocide.

I totally agree with you on that my friend. Elections shouldn't be about what party you're from, it should be who you think would make a good president, governor, etc. I think that with political parties, it ties our society into thinking that we can only vote for the party we're supporting...and that's completely idiotic.

The two party system has failed miserably. It's a monopoly of power and americans need to reject both parties for real change.
