You pretty much barely qualified for alimony....you have to married a minimum of 10 years and not working during that time. So, feel lucky you got almost a years worth. You can appeal that decision with a new judge..but that's hit or miss. Your custodial evaluation is to see how things are going in relation to custody. There going to have both of you go by yourself in a room and a psychologist or another trained professional is going to ask you questions regarding the care of your kid and so fourth. They might even do one with your kid alone. In the end both of you (you and your ex) will be in there trying to agree on custody. If your ex is a good daddy to your kid, let him see the kid. If he's not you know what to do. But definitely get a lawyer to help you.

Actually, you are pretty lucky to get that. Considering the fact that you have split custody, that is. You don't say how old the child is. If the child is in a pre-school or school, there is no reason why you can't get a job to support yourself and 1/2 a kid, like your husband has to do, the judge apparently thinks this also.. There should only be child support payments if you have primary custody and the burden of raising the child rests primarily on you, but it doesn't. Spousal support should only come in to play if you have an infant and/or are incapable of working because of a permanent disability.

you could do what the judge suggested you do.FIND A JOB THAT WILL SUPPORT YOU! He has shared custody therefre it evens out.You support the kid while you have him and he does the same.He does not owe YOU A LIVING.The one year alimony was granted to you to allow you time to get your **** together.

In this day and age you are lucky you get alimony at all. He isn't your husband anymore, he shouldn't have to support you AND your child. You should be working and supporting yourself and only having child support being paid to you.

Lets be real.
You got money from him because you had sex with him.
Divorce him and no sex, no money.
You do understand that alimony is spousal support and different from CHILD support.
