Today is the anniversary of D-Day. I would like to share this with all the Military families and all of you who have forgotten what our freedom means. I hope you enjoy this clip. I am proud to be an American and I support our troops. I pray you come home soon. The second website tells of that horrific battle that our fathers, sons, husbands and grandfathers fought in.

God Bless every man and woman who serves our country - now and then. They all have a special place in my heart. Whether you support wars or not, the men and women who serve deserve our support and love. Today I am always reminded of a favorite poem...

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

to rubbishbinni:

You said FRANCE did more to win WWII then the US did?

Maybe you don't know this, but France collapsed in 6 weeks.

Maybe you don't know this, but the US supplied most of the War Material used by all of the allies, including the Soviets.

Maybe you don't know this, but the Soviet Union was fighting a single front war, while the US fought on 5 land fronts(W. Europe, S. Europe, Africa, China, and the Pacific Islands) and 3 Ocean fronts(Atlantic, Pacific and Indian)

Maybe you don't know this, but the Soviet Union was only fighting the Germans from June 1941-May 1945, only 6 months before the US was drawn into the war and the Soviets did not declare war against the Japanese until August 8, 1945, two days after Hiroshima and the day before Nagasaki.

Maybe you can say that Britain and the Soviets did as much as the US to win WWII, but no country did more than we did, certainly not France, Australia, New Zealand, China and Scotland(not even a country a part of the UK).

Some of you Americans may not know this.... World War 2 began in 1939. Thats quite some time before you joined in to battle the Hun!!! Think of all the other nations that probably did more to win than you. France, England, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand and even Russia! Remember it was the Russians that got to Berlin first!

World War II: Battle of Normandy began. D-Day, code named Operation Overlord, commenced with the landing of 155,000 Allied troops on the beaches of Normandy in France. The allied soldiers quickly break through the Atlantic Wall and push inland in the largest amphibious military operation in history.

Any war is not a good war.. any man or woman who sacraficed their lives OR SOULS to fight in any of our wars were heros...any man or woman who came HOME from fighting in any of our wars are also heros and should ALWAYS be treated as such - - - - INCLUDING the Vietnam AND any of the Eastern Wars of recent years. You may show people websites of horrific war scenes, but what counts most is how they are treated once they are HOME again...no matter how much anyone may HATE that we are in Iraq right now---the men and women fighting over there deserve our LOVE and SUPPORT more now then EVER----hate the war but not the people IN the war... don't let THESE warriors come home to what the guys in Vietnam came home to...

D - Day and there were plenty of veterans who gave their all on this day. those who survived the action didn't talk about it much. but one who did made a comment, " the second wave in which I was in could almost walk ashore on top of the bodies of our comrades. "

Glad someone besides me remembers. Thank you. please see my question/post
