I do work for the NHS and with my first baby my manager did not do no risk assessment then. There are a few things that are not right in the department but its like you scatch my back and i'll scratch your's.

Well you do not do a risk assessment after an accident. It is his responsibility to prepare one not yours. Obviously as the NHS is said to be back in the black it has plenty of money to pay for anything that goes wrong. Can you contact any one fast if things go wrong?

A risk assessment ought to have been carried out as soon as you informed your boss of your pregnancy.
Yes it is still worth notifying your boss that (a) a risk assessment should and has not been completed and (b) of your concerns for your welfare.
Send it in an e-mail so you have proof - you'll find it gets acted on quickly! Ideally, copy in your union rep.
