I checked the tank, no skin. The day after I noticed that, I fed him. Is this okay? I clean the tank weekly, if you want to know.

The snakes eyes will only stay cloudy for a couple days. The eyes usually clear up right before they shed. If his eyes are clear again he should shed within the next day or two. They don't keep their cloudy eyes after they shed. If that happens that usually means they haven't shed the eye caps and that can cause some problems. It's not a bad thing if he ate before shedding. If the snake will eat during shed then it's OK. The problem most people have with feeding during a shed is that the cloudy eyes make it hard for the snake to see. So a lot of snakes will refuse to eat at this time. Also if you feed live rodents (which is not recommended anyway) The snake can't see as well and there is more of a chance for the snake to get bitten or killed.

When Snakes shed there skin; the first stage will be for the skin and eyes to appear cloudy or milky. This stage will last about 3 or 4 days. After which the snake will shed it's skin in less than a week.

Make sure that you snake has a rock or branch of some kind that will allow the snake to remove the old layer of skin. Take note if the snake is having a hard time removing the old layer of skin, in this case you will need to have the snake soak in water or get a shed aid to help the snake remove the old layer of skin.

Depending on the type and age of snake and how often the snake is feed; will determine how often a snake will shed. Baby snake may shed once a month where adults may only shed every 3 to 4 months.

Chakra, my python has done that before too. If your snake ate, that's good. The eyes being cloudy usually does mean he/she is going to shed. Maybe your snake is getting ready to shead, and still has an appitite.

they go clear for a few days before shedding. feeding is ok , but you should wait if you can next time till after he sheds. dont handle him until he sheds, the oil from your skin will cause it to not come off in one peice. soak him in WARM not HOT or COLD but WARM water for about 20 mins every night till he sheds and itll come off in one piece. after he sheds, carefully pick up the old skin. dont immediatly try to stretch it out because it will be dry and it will tear. go to the bathroom and get it wet, and the old skin will stretch out. hang it on the wall or wherever till it dries, and itll dry all stretched out. then you can roll it up and keep it, or hang it on the wall. i had like 15 sheds from a burmese python, ranging from 3 feet to 14 feet and it was cool to compare

Has your python shed his/her skin recently? Immediately after shedding, all snakes' eyes are cloudy for a day or three before clearing.
