you are not allowed to smack your child anymore, anywhere, just send them to there room, or make them stay in the house, they ring child line you will be in trouble, not fair i know, but that is the new law, all the best

No it is not legal. You are commiting a crime against a child if you smack them. You can end up in court on child cruelty charges or similar. Try taking away priveliges, like TV, Computer, Playstation etc. Ground the child, or stop treats. Better still, communicate with the child on the matter, listen to them and explain why what they have done is wrong etc.They will grow up a lot nicer in the long run.

I think that's the problem with today's kids- they get off too easy. In my day the teachers were still allowed to whop you on the hand with a ruler, and grab you by the ear and drag you to the principle. I think a good smack now and then is fine if the kids are really bad, but as long as you don't take it too far.

I don't know but i do believe one metaphorical kick up the bum saves hours of educational physiology.
I was caned often at school and sometimes given a hiding by my mother, I'm not going to say it did me no harm, but it taught me that if I kept on kicking over the traces something unpleasant was going to happen if i got caught
