1) Change the buttons - i.e. dressier buttons or buttons w/ a design.

2) Consider dying or bleaching them (e.g. tie dye,distressing a tee shirt w/ logo) or sewing on pre-made embroidered designs or lace.

3) Convert some old pants into shorts. Take in a long sleeved blouse to make it more fitted & shorten the sleeves into cap or baby length sleeves. Shorten/crop a loose tee shirt to layer over a camisole.

Lately, I've been layering. Sometimes, you really don't have to add anything to your clothes to jazz them up a little. You just have to know what makes them work for you.

A good knowledge of colors and how they compliment or offset each other really helps too.
