This will depend on what you mean by "best." Are you talking about outright ability to perform in terms of speed or racing? About value to the company that is making the car? About the car's range of utility and use? About the car's value?
In order to excel in one area, the car will have to compromise in the others, meaning that you can never have one "best."
The VW Beattle would deserve mention as an inexpensive but long lived design. The Model T would deserve mention as a car that redefined the industry when it was very young. The Mclaren F1 would demand mention as a technical marvel as well as a performance milestone. The Unimog would set an early bar in ability to perform in many environments. The Porsche 956/962 would deserve mention as one of the winningest racecars ever produced. The Tucker would deserve mention just for the sheer number of innovations it delivered... and so on and so on.

Ford Model T-
It is responsable for our high standard of convience and freedom in the US. It started it all. Suddenly everyone could afford a car. Granted I don't know how people drive them now. It crazy. Obviosly modern cars are better.

the best would be the longest lasting.... Model T lasted 19 years, While the Mustang is still going strong after 43 years! and the parent company Ford over 100 years!

for comfort its the mayback
for speed its the buggati veyron ss
for looks its the maserati grandturismo mc stadale
and if u want a cheap and fast car i would recommend the subaru wrx imprezza

1970's vw bug
its easy to work on, cheap parts, and there still on the road and lots of them that has to say a lot about a car if its still on the road.
