I'm not, so I can't actually speak to that. However, I have a couple of perpetually nice friends, who are neither boring nor demeaned by it. They are actually examples of what I'd like to be if I could just do it without a lobotomy.

No, what's demeaning is when people who don't even know you are mean to you and expect you to willingly and happily kiss their a ss. Also, when people who are almost never nice to you think they're always right and expect you to agree with everything they do and say.
