My fiancee is 3 weeks late on her period, and she took a pregnancy test last week, and it was negative, and then she took one today and it was negative. what is the deal here? We are not trying to have a baby so I figure that it is perhaps because she was extremely stressed out from work, and i've been working her out and making her diet a lot. Any ideas???

just to let the rest of you know, NO I'm not controlling. We are both on a diet and exercising. It was a mutual thing. So to anyone that gives me that "you need to love her for who she is" crap can shut up. Now you know. next time, don't assume stuff.

ya i think she is stressed out because when i am stressed out a lot it is sometimes a month late but i would extremely advise her to go see a doctor about that and maybe you should lay off the whole dieting situation, let her relax a bit it may help.

Stress, dieting and exercising are three HUGE reasons why women's periods are late. Plus she's planning a wedding.... no wonder!
If another home pregnancy test is negative at the end of the week, take her to a Pregnancy Resource Center for a free pregnancy test. Look in the Abortion Alternatives section of the phone book for the closest one.
If it's negative still, put her on a really good multi-vitamin with extra calcium and B vitamins. Her system is run down and she could easily compromise her immune system and get sick. Also, practice safe sex to eliminate this one further factor.
Good luck

well, sometimes pregnancy doesn;t show up, depending on the hormone levels. She needs to go to the dr. and have bllod work done to tell for sure.
Stress can be a very big part of why some women don't start and freak over pregnancy. I don't think excersise and diet would be causing it but these are very important questions that she needs to talk with her OB about.
Good Luck!

If she is dieting she needs to be on a multi vitamin to ensure she is getting enough nutriants to continue her period. When ever I diet my period stops.
My guess is that it is a combination of diet and stress. But just to be on the safe side have her act as if she is pregnant.... no smoking or drinking and cut back a bit on the diet until she has seen a doctor.
She needs to make sure that nothing is wrong and that the diet she is on is not too much for her body to handle.

I think it's from stress. After 10 minutes a pregnancy test is inaccurate, sticky baby dust to you! When a woman Ovulates, which means she released her egg. A hormone called progesterone is produced. As soon as the decline in estrogen (usually within 2-5DPO) progesterone will then be higher, since the estrogen has declined. Progesterone causes a lot of confusion, many women THINK that they are experiencing pregnancy symptoms at 3-5DPO, which is impossible. Let me explain: (it is possible to implant early as 3DPO, BUT it takes 48-72 hours for your HCG to run high enough through your blood stream to feel any pregnancy symptoms at all) Progesterone causes headaches, creamy/tacky, sticky/gooey cervical mucus, bloating, fatigue, breast soreness, water retention, rashes, itchiness, gas, nausea, increase of appetite, (just to name a few).Progesterone is also the cause of pms, as now you can see how they mimic each other.

I very well could be stress, but I have heard of some woman who's at home pregnancy tests have come up negative when in fact they HAVE been pregnant! Tell her to get a blood test, just to be sure.
PS love your girlfriend for her heart not her body.

Stress and weight loss with stop periods. The body knows that it is not the right time for it to carry a baby, so it puts a stop to the reproductive cycle.
Periods should return when life is a little more settled, however do not assume that she can't get pregnant and not take precautions.

It probably is all the stress on her body from you "working her out" and "making her diet a lot." Are you happy now? You sound too controlling. Let her diet ONLY is she WANTS to.

Have her go to the docs. I took 4 at home and they were all positive. I took one in the ER and it was negative. They sent me home saying I had a miscarriage. I'm currently 14 weeks. Be safe, I could have done god knows what in the 3 weeks in between the ER and my final confirmation. Good luck!!

shes probably late due to you making her diet and working out alot, and stress too. When a woman has a dramatic change in diet and exersice, her period sometimes is late. It happened to me when I changed my diet and worked out a lot more. Stress causes that too.
