You're thinking of "Trilogy of Terror", a trilogy of short horror stories, each starring Karen Black. The African Zuni Warrior doll is in the last of the three. The title is "Amelia". The stories were written by Richard Matheson.
Trilogy of Terror recently came out on DVD. You can rent it at Netflix, if you're a member. It's still scary after all these years.
I'm a big Stephen King fan - he never had a movie out like that.

...are we absolutely positive that we're talking about Stephen King, here???
This almost sounds like an ABC Movie of the Week film, which came out in 1975, entitled "Trilogy of Terror"; in the anthology film, which contained three stories, and starred actress Karen Black in several different roles, an African Zumi Doll, comes to life, and chases a young woman around her apartment; at the end, the spirit of the doll possesses the woman.
...deftly written by horror/fantasy scribe Richard Matheson, I don't recall Stephen King writing anything even remotely similar to this!!!

I believe your thinking of the TV movie "Trilogy Of Terror". Where a woman brings home a small doll that comes to life and hunts her in her apartment. It was one of three storeis and were written by Richard Matheson not King. Is this what you were thinking of?

That was I think the "Three Tales of Terror"there are more than 1 three tales of thrror, where it lets the stories go on further.I saw the second three tales,in which the small doll was recovered from the womans house, and is taken into a forensics lab,in which it comes back to life and attacks the scienest.Surprise ending.

I don't know if there was a movie with that plot, but there was definitely an X-Files episode called Chinga written by Stephen King with a similar plot.
