First off, let me say that Vista is one of the most non-ready released operating systems today. Go back to XP until they have fixed all their current problems. As for your DSL problem, DSL is capable of going much faster than dial-up. It depends on your plan that is available in your area. Dial-up supposed to give you 56 kbit/s, but usually gives you between 33-43 kbit/s. DSL can offer 256 kilobits per second (kbit/s) to 24,000 kbit/s, depending on DSL technology. This is much faster than dial-up speed. Check your plan and make sure that you are receiving a speed that makes you satisfied. You might have to upgrade if it is available in your area.

DSL is not slower than dial up.
If you are having a speed problem now that you have Vista there has to be a configuration problem.
Are there other users on your network? If so the internet speed is shared among all users.
If you have a wireless network do you have freeloaders consuming your bandwidth?

I have Hughs dsl, it is way faster than dial up, but way slower than cable. I would definately call your provider and ask what u need to do to speed things up. I am not familiar with vista, but that slow of speed says there is a problem to me

Hi,
DSL is usually faster than dial up connections, however you may contact you DSL/telephone service provider to know if they are facing certain technical difficulty in providing a high speed DSL in your area.
You may consult our experts on http://www.maincorporated.in/

Call them... your area may not support the speed you are subscribing to, that happened to me w/Embarq and they refunded me six months... I had the fastest and my area could only support he slowest DSL speed... I had nothing but trouble for six months, and now it works like a charm!

Call your ISP. There probably is noise on your phoneline making your signal / noise ratio too low.
Good luck.
