It's so strange to me that they can jump from a very sad make you wanna cry story .... into a very cheery story with out showing any emotion!

the stories I just heard were .....

Today 3 ppl were found dead in this westside home......(story) ...... that is sooo sooo sad. Well on the lighter side of the news ... (a damn funny story) ..... hahahaha ..... unfortunatly police believe they have found the body of a missing local teen ......(story) ..... now lets go to sports!

WTF is that, why do they seem to not care about anything?

They aren't there to let you know how they feel about it, there are there to give us the news and nothing more! They are acting in a professional mannor that is expected of them! Of course they have feelings! Walter Conkrite almost broke down when telling us about JFK being killed! You can't hear the emotion in the voices when they were reporting on 911? It is their job to give us the straight news WITHOUT emotion, but because they are human once in awhile, they can't help it and let some out!

Newsreaders are not supposed to show emotion when reading the news. They are supposed to give an impartial account of events without puting their own feelings or bias onto it. It's a job requirement. Offscreen, newsreaders have emotions just like you and me.

They do care, I'm sure, but then, it's not their job to express how they feel about the news, it's their job to deliver the news.

"And the masked man beat the 86 year old woman to death with her own cane...AND IN OTHER NEWS, Davy the Dachshund has learned to fly a kite...here's Mike with the story...Mike?"

It is part of their training. A newsreader who began displaying reactions to the stories he was presenting would not be a newscaster for very long. The newsreader is supposed to be impartial

No- its not that they don't care its part of being a professional. They must remain neutral. Some however say some type of comment at the end of a tragic news

But they do!
I saw several tearing up when reporting on Huricane Katrina and 9/11

they have to have a professionalism about their job, i'm sure they get upset and have feelings about what they report. I could never be a newscaster, i would be crying and cussing all the time

I don't think I would watch the news if the newscaster repeatedly burst into tears while reading the news. Would you?

Thats how they are trained to not react in any way. Showing emotion is weakness. That is why I would never be able to be one.
