My computer comes on to the screen where you push F2 and F10 and all that stuff but that is as far as it goes! It wont go to windows and the screen just goes blank! HELP ME!!!

i cant tell you anything else! oh it's an HP i'm not sure what else really! It just wont do anything!! I'm frustrated because I just had a new hard drive put in it about 2 years ago!

Hi Emily,
The first question I have is:
If you don't touch anything, Aden the screen goes blank, does the little hard disk LED flash? You should have 3 LED lights on the top of your laptop, 1 is the POWER LED , 2 is the HARD DISK LED, 3 is the CHARGING BATTERY LED. The hard disk LED is usually green and flashed steady or really fast on and off when loading Windows.
Second Question:
Before the screen goes blank, do you see anything at all besides the F2 - F12 options? If so, what is the last thing you see?
Try this: As soon as you see the F2 - F12 on the screen, start hitting the F8 key every 1/2 second, this may get you safe mode.

Your hard drive's boot sector could be corrupted. If you have Win XP, be ready w/ your CD and try this repair procedure:

Once Windows is OK, go to safe mode and scan for virus.

i need more information, but it sounds like it is not reading the hard drive.
2 years ago, it does sound like the hard drive is faulty. sorry you might have to buy a replacement and rebuild your computers software.
