Hi,
To find lye, first go to any chemical supply shop near your area. If you can't find it there, go to a home hardware place. If they don't have it in stock, talk to a manager, explain you need it to make soaps, and perhaps he can order a bag in for you.
*A lot of places stopped carrying it because lye is a major ingredient in making meth.

If worse comes to worse and you really can't find it, you will have to get it on line. Shipping lye comes with a huge extra shipping cost though (because lye is a dangerous chemical)...
Try this place if you have to 'on line' it:

Good luck with making soap - its HIGHLY addicting =)

Where To Buy Lye

Lye is a caustic solution which is made from ashes and is used for glass, soap making, and certain food preparations and may refer to:

Soda lye, known as sodium hydroxide
Potash lye, a less common name for potassium hydroxide
Chamber lye, urine

You should be able to get it at a craft store that carries soap-making supplies, but if you really want to make soap, I highly suggest making glycerin soap, far less nasty to work with!

Lowe's. Look for Roebic, 2lb crystals. Sold as a drain opener in the plumbing department. $15.08 for the 2lb container. 100% sodium hydroxide, tiny beads.
