Probably closer to the first one, a trait I've passed on to my son, who will readily help out anyone that he perceives as needing his cash more than he does at a given time.

I do consider myself generous. But there IS a difference between generous and extravagant. The latter seems to me to involve a degree of foolishness. Money has never been, for me, the be all and end all, so if someone else needs it more than I do, they're welcome to it.

If I see something I want for me or my daughter I buy it (within reason), I like to have a rainy day fund but I also like to live in the now, life's too short to be stressing over money.

I'm WAY too generous. I'll buy anyone I'm talking to a drink when ordering for myself. I also send hot guys, DJ's, band members, anyone who appeals to me drinks. I'm out of control, that's why I don't go to clubs much anymore.

actually both. with family and friends i'm very generous.
on the other hand, if i'm shopping i constantly look for bargains and will check ads to see if what i bought goes on sale somewhere else for the price match. i don't care if it's only a dollar, i want it.

I'm so tight, that's why fifty pence pieces have sides so they can use a spanner to get it out of my hand
