I bought these things last year that are large vibrating stakes - you bury them in your garden (we used three for our entire yard of maybe 100'x30', though some of that is concrete patio). They emit vibration pulses every minute or so, and we haven't had a problem with moles or gophers since! They take four D batteries I think, which will last the whole growing season. They might not be this brand, but they're similar: http://www.getridofgophers.com/sonic-gopher-repeller.htm

Good luck!

Mice poison (purchased at Grange Coop) put down the holes will work but will put any other animal that comes in contact with it at great risk. My husband plugs all the holes that he can find with rags and then puts the propane hose down what he thinks is the main hole, also plugging with rag and gassing them for 4 - 5 minutes. May not be very safe, don't do it around flame - but it solves the problem.

I used Lyme this year, see the moles are after the grubs (white worms or like catapillar looking things in the ground) and the grubs dont like Lyme so when you put it on your lawn and it rains it goes in the ground and the grubs try to go underground farther and then the moles go underground more to eat the grubs.
