Whenever I go outside to "handle it", it flyies away. What should I do?

You don't need to go outside...
When the bird pecks on the outside,
peck back at it from the inside.
Let's see how that works.

I had this happen last spring. Try taking a bar of soap and rubbing it on the window or doing anything that will prevent it from seeing it's own reflection.

He sees his reflection and thinks it's another bird. Try covering the window with something temporarily that will diminish the reflection.

If it's a vulture you should see a doctor.... seriously, what type of bird?
Some people think that if a bird interacts with you, it is a possible sign that either you or someone close to you is going to get sick/die....

Or it is lost, hope this helps.....

I think you should try to scare it off. try trowing somethign at it
