Several times a day, someone asks a very similar question to your's.

It's very helpfull to include a little more information in your question to help us, help you, in your times of trouble.

Some of the simple things to include in your question is:

1) Year of car.
2) Make of the car.
3) Model of your car.
Those three things can help us narrow down known issues with particular vehicles that have certain problems that occur on a regular basis. (ie. recalls and such)

Next, If you could give a more detailed explanation of what is happening when you turn the key to start your car.
1) Nothing happens?
2) You hear a "click", but nothing else?
3) You hear the starter turning, but the engine doesn't turn?
4) The starter turns the engine, but the engine won't start up?
5) The engine turns over, but very slowly.
6) the engine turns, but there's an awful banging noise?

I cant be certain but sounds like the crankshaft sensor is playing up, What happens is a build up of dust from the clutch keeps the sensor magnetic. You can take it out and clean it with a clean lint cloth if it has not worn replace and try to start the car to see if that rectifies the fault it is normally found under the air filter screwed into the engine block. you can buy one from a good motor factors the price between £25.00/ £30.00

If you want a real response, Would you like us to pick the year model, and size engine, 4 or 6,I guessed it was a 1998 alantra, and that year they had a few problems with fuel systems, and emissions.Or are you willing to give up that info

Some kind of problem with fuel delivery. Check the fuel pump, the fuel filter, etc. The 20 minutes lets enough fuel leak in to make it start.

This assumes it cranks but won't start. If it won't crank, then it's a battery or starter problem, of some kind.

Have you went to an auto store and had your battery checked? It may be time for a new one.
