Absolutely but it would still be futile.

It's brilliant idea but will never happen.

We need a draft. I agree that it's not the best thing in the world, but the "volunteer" army is part of the problem. Right now, the men and women over there are considered volunteers so whatever b.s. they get (i.e.--you go to war with the army you have, not the army you would like to have) we can just say, oh well, they volunteered for this.

--And the concept of "voluntary" service is laughable when the vast majority of the young people joining are from socio-economic levels that don't allow for much advancement in the civilian sector. Education is not just a way to upgrade, but standard in today's market, so kids are, literally, dying just to keep their heads above water.

With a draft, people from the higher social strata would be pulled into the fray. When the children of CEO's and politicians start coming home in body-bags, then we'll see a swift and decisive withdrawal. Until then, it's just more poor people getting screwed while the CEO's of Halliburton, Titan, and Blackwater get rich.

And, for anyone doubting, I AM a liberal and I have two brothers (NAVY and MARINE CORP, both career soldiers, and a grandfather who served in WWII). My family has shed more blood than most for this country so don't give me that "liberals hate America" b.s.!

Patriotism is a love for one's country, acknowledging its flaws.

Nationalism is the blind belief that one's country is supreme and one's government infallible.

I am a patriot. What are you?

No, I agree with it the way it is, but I might give it some more thought if they sent all the people like you!

Sorry, I would not. We have an ALL VOLUNTEER military and forcing people to go to war because of who they voted for would be wrong.

Why don't your liberal coward *** go? You liberal cowards make me sick. You wouldn't know how to protect your own family, coward.

And I didn't vote for Bush either! I voted 3rd party.

No way. I've always supported voluntary military service.

Another lame attempt with all that "chicken-hawk" liberal bullcrap. Since when did you have to join the army to support your country in a war? Oh yea you never did. Please stop hating America all you liberals.

Oh, you mean they aren't volunteering for the war they support? That is rather cowardly isn't it?
