National security, out of control spending, immigration, partisanship and energy.
National Security...it's not worth looking at the other 4 if we're not here or alive to do anything about them.
Spending is out of control and I think that there are probably billions upon billions that are being wasted everyday. You can go online and EASILY track the militaries and arsenals of many countries, I can Google your face at 3' resolution and come up for recipes for all kinds of nasty things, but I have no idea where my taxes go once they leave my paycheck. Put 310,000,000 pairs of eyes on the American budget, and let's see how much gets wasted then.
Immigration is whipping a dead horse on this board anymore, but something needs to be done that can accomodate everyone without fleecing American citizens or destroying immigrant families.
Partisanship is self-explanatory, especially if you've ever read more than one post in Y! Answers.
Energy independence needs to happen. We'll see once again very soon that gas will go up again because of a typhoon in Iran. Meanwhile, one of the largest stockpiles in the world--between crude, shale and sands--lies right beneath our feet but we're not allowed to get it. We DO need to get away from oil, and especially Middle Eastern and Venezuelan oil, but we're cutting off our noses to spite our faces when we think that BURNING OUR FOOD SUPPLY VIA ETHANOL is the best way to go. Ethanol cannot replace the textiles, heavy fuel oils and lubrication used everyday to keep the world moving...it really only cures our thirst for gasoline.

In descending order of importance:
1.) Separation of church and state.
2.) Equal civil rights and freedoms for all citizens (race, religion, culture, gender, sexual orientation).
3.) The ever-increasing imperialistic tendencies of our government.
4.) Continuing with our failed system of privatized, for-profit health care. It should be nationalized as with most other developed countries.
5.) Our profoundly unfair tax system that places a disproportionate amount of the country's financial burden on the middle class.
