If it is a one time thing, then let it go. But, if you talk to this person on and off or regularly, I can tell you what I had to do in this case.

In Indonesia I was working with one of my staff each day and had to be around this person a lot. They had severe halitosis. I would come prepared. I myself would take the mint first and blame myself for having had "whatever" to eat that day. Then I would offer to this other person. Usually they will take it. The key is, do not offend others or hurt their feelings.

A wrong way to go about this, and I use a body odor example. When I was living in Indiana, a lady in the office had an everyday odor. Someone decided to put a bar of soap on her desk with a note attached. It was mean and degrading. The lady was shocked and saddened along with the obvious embarrassment and humiliation as all the employee's heard about it. The irony here, that embarrassed lady settled out of court for close to a 1/4 million dollars from the business and in court won more than $50,000 from the newly jobless perp female who at one time thought it was so funny.

Imagine if they just had some girl talk in the bathroom. Lots of money would be saved. Again, there is a right way and wrong to approach people about pretty much anything.

Do your best to find the right and tactful way.

Unfortunately, Yes it is, if you are close up. But, if your not and if possible, you can discretely and casually back away(not noticeably) from this person to a point where you can't smell their bad breath. Or if you know them quite well and this is what I do, let them know that their breath is hum min and offer them a piece of gum or a breath mint. This way when they are talking to someone else their breath will be fresher. Unless they have Yuk mouth and neither gum or breath mint help then I would suggest they get professional assistance from a Dentist.

If you like this person, or this person is important to you, always carry a roll of mints with you. When you meet this person, take a mint yourself and offer him a mint without saying what it's for. Bad breath can be caused by tooth decay or gingivitis which is due to lack of professional care. Many people can't afford the dentist or regular teeth cleaning.

Talking to someone with bad breath is easy - just speak normally.

Sometimes, it depends on how severe their bad breath is. When I talk to someone who has bad breath, I just stand three feet away. I don't want to appear rude.

It's disgusting! Have you ever felt like you "caught" bad breath from someone? You start to have a taste in your mouth that resembles the smell of their breath. So gross - ugh!

Yes, very much. It's disgusting. I can't pay attention to anything the person would be talking about because I would be wondering why it would be so hard to just chew a piece of gum or brush your teeth.

Yes it is
When someone has bad breath I tell them cuz I'll just end up making it too obvious, like I'll start blinking too much or I'll start playing with my shirt.
