I would say most people who have jobs know this, since they have done what you have said is necessary to get a job. I would also say most people who don't have jobs also know this since they have not had a job fall in their lap yet. So I would say almost everyone realizes this.

Sadly, not enough people actually understand this fact. Jobs don't come knocking on your door. You've got to get out there and knock down a few doors, just hoping to get a toe in the door.
It's so much easier to fake disabilities, sit home collect welfare checks, have 99 babies and leach off the system. Why bother busting your butt working when you can occupy yourself with taking away from the people who truly need the assistance, like the elderly, the vets, and those that really are disabled.
*whew* Sorry for the rant!

I had a job just fall into my lap - and through my hard work at it - went from doing contract graphic and web design to being Creative Design Director for an 8 company group.
Those contacts led me to establishing my own company and building 9 subsidiaries.

Why do conservatives assume when the left defends or tries to defend people with less skills, luck or abilities we're doing that out of selfish concerns?
Can you even imagine being concerned, caring about people and situations even when it doesn't benefit or even concern yourself?
I have a job and not waiting for anyone to give me a handout, thank you very much.
Is that what this is about?Lack of emphaty? You and other conservatives only care about what effects you?
BTW lot of conservatives claim to be Christian, could you give me the bible quote where it says, screw the poor, they should just stop being lazy and go to work like the rest of us?I really can't find it in my bible.

Most liberals don't understand this concept. They instead expect our government to provide a job for them. If they don't like the job, they resign and then expect a severance package. Then, when the severance package runs out, they expect an unemployment check in the mail right away while receiving their welfare check and food stamps along with it. If the checks don't come in the mail on time, they hire an attorney to sue the government for 100 times more than what the checks are actually worth in the name of "emotional distress". Unfortunately, a liberal judge will grant the lawsuit in favor of the prosecutor and will then become wealthy overnight. But, when it becomes time to file for taxes, the liberal will see how much he/she has to pay, and declares it's unfair and file for a discrimination lawsuit. The judge will again favor the prosecutor and the liberal gets richer. And round and round it goes.

Sometimes hard work and determination doesn't pay off. Just check out some of the dozens of rejection letters I've received here:

BTW, I submitted cover letter after cover letter, resume after resume, wore dress shirts and ties to ALL my interviews, yet was treated like a piece of trash.

thats because we live in a society where everyone has become LAZY!!! its become cool to be spoiled and not have any personal liability for what you do and what others think of you! thats why I thank god for my father. and for growing up in texas!! the two have shown me that hard work and determination is worth more than anything given!

I thought that we were supposed to sit at home, collect welfare and food stamps and wait for the government to give us a job? :)
I tried very hard for three years to be a regular full time Honeywell employee but I got here with sheer determination and posititve work history!
