What would you say if I said that I work on cars and LOVE THEM TO DEATH! Would you say that girls shouldn't work on cars and should leave the car-loving to the boys? Or, will you agree with me and say that girls can love cars and fix them too?

Why would you give up something you love? Just because it's been the norm for only boys to love cars, girls can too. Girls can do anything guys can... and probably better!

I say that is awsome. I mean alot of girls will say that men will say they can work on cars or do "mens work" but you know I have had woman tell me that to. Aunts, mothers say I should learn to cook and take care of children so I can get a goood job (my parents had me when they were in there late 40's so all my family are a bit older) my family is also African American's from the South Originally so they tend to tell me to cook, clean, and be polite so i can get a good man to support me. I always hated that concept. I also hated to concept of the only girls who do the guy stuff are tom boys. I am 18 and I wear skirts, make up love to go on dates, get flowers and flirt but I do alot of guy stuff. Right now my hobbie is racing (I have not actullly race because of my father but I will soon) but I can fix them, and change the tires, and I polish them and everything. I also work at my friends family farm (we live in New york not the south but really East) They don't live on the farm but they own it and I help with the aminals and the work and I dont get paid because I like it. Everyone says I shouldn't be climing up high or lifting the heavey barriels. But you know what my friends father says I am better than alot of his men. So I say do what you want. You like what you like and no one has a right to tell you not to because of whats between your legs.

I would definitely say if you love it, go for it.
We are not in the 50's! If you are interested in cars, girl that is a skill that not a lot of girls are interested in - you'll be an assett to yourself & your man. I think a lot of guys would find that attractive in a girl - that she can hold her own & wants to do her own fixin'. Just think - you'll probably be a LOT less likely to get ripped off at an auto shop because they can't tell you there's something bogus wrong with your car & charge you hundreds of dollars to fix it - you'll know they're pulling your leg.

if you truly love cars then you should work on them and fix them and not worry about what anybody else thinks or says to you about it. do what makes you happy and enjoy it while you work on them or customize them and maybe make some good money while you are at it. Dont work on everybody's car for free. auto mechanics is a skilled trade and you should charge a fee and earn money for your skills and services.

I knew a woman mechanic...every friday she'd go get a manicure and set of nails for the weekend...lol. She was a cool lady.
