Absolutely.
Do you think we're going to be able to support an ever-growning population on this planet alone? Eventually, we'll have to move elsewhere, and we'd better start learning how NOW, rather than later.

Yes. A billion dollars isn't actually that much for the government. It's about 3 dollars per American citizen. I'm willing to shell out $3. Space research has resulted in satellites, which power cell phones. That's worth the $3, and then some.

Hell yea, look at the technology we have developed because of the space program. Also let us not forget the military potential with nuclear missile shields etc. A few billion is good insurance against the trillions of dollars in damage a nuclear hit would do.

While I can think of plenty of projects the Government wastes money on, the one project, Space, that has given us returns, is not one of them.
Look sometimes at the pork projects attached to bills and see why we don't have money. Research on the sex life of insects, off the wall ecology studies and such.
Many items we take for granted all came from either the Military or Space exploration.

I agree. what's using exploring new worlds and colonizing as quickly as we can't even get issues at the same time in the international. i've got constantly stated i could scrap NASA and spend the money on college and regulation enforcement. we are able to spend billions on area equipment that doesn't artwork, yet we've inner city little ones turning to gangs as a results of fact they education does not appear as if an option to achievement.

I think we need to commercialize space exploration - take a load off the government purse strings and give these multi-billion corporations a new frontier to invest in and build new economies with.

Absolutely.
The planet is a fixed size. The population is growing.
The universe is basically infinite. I'd rather see my money going to space than going into aircraft carrier fuel and missile defense.

Without it you would not have a lot of the useless items you have now. Rather see them spend it there, than on other countries.
