I feed my cat canned food twice a day, and give her the dry cat food if she's hungry between those times. We keep her food bowl in the laundry room. However, when someone goes into the kitchen, it doesnt matter if she just ate, she thinks you should feed her. She starts meowing and making chirping noises nonstop. We play with her all the time, she gets plenty of attention, she's held and petted alot. But most of the time when this happens we're all really busy, and can't do that at that moment. We've been worming her regularly as well. She hides every toy we buy for her. Sometimes I even crack the door open enough to where she cant go outside, but can "converse" with the outside cats. It actually looks like that's what theyre doing. Having a friendly conversation. Anyway, is there any way to break her of this behavior? Would it help her if I gave her a stuffed animal that was not too big but big enough that she couldnt easily hide it? Cat lovers, i need your opinion!

Getting another cat is a nice idea, but i cant because my mom wont allow me to. I wont be able to unless i can take this one with me when i move into my own place in the next year or so.

Also, my cat is normal weight. I give her all the attention i can, and she gets plenty of exercise.

Its not my intention to tease her by letting her see the other cats......i just wanted her to get some socialization. I cant actually allow her outside because she doesnt have claws and that would be bad if she somehow got lost. And mom doesnt want fleas so i cant bring the outside cats in. We keep Little Bear (the inside cat) treated with a topical medication to prevent fleas.

The other ones wont keep on flea collars, and you cant keep them still long enough to apply medication to them

Please dont misinterpret me. I love this cat, and think she's the best one I ever had! She's very affectionate with me, especially.

When I first got my cat she got excited at the noise of the can opener. She learned, especially after i only gave her dry food. She associates your kitchen action with feeding. Maybe you can get pouch food and keep it in the laundry room. If she sees you getting it from there, maybe she will not associate the kitchen with food.
Don't worry about the toy's.

Mine does that when he wants to go outside. A few times he has run outside in the blink of an eye. He has a history of running away or getting into fights so goint outside unsupervised is a no no. My cat has a stuffed animal cat that he's had since I got him. It was the same size as him. I put a belled collar on the stuffed cat's neck. He's just about worn all the fur off of the stuffed cat from playing with it. Get your cat a stuffed animal of the same size so he can feel like he's got a companion (or someone to bully in my cats case).

#1... you're already giving her too much food. Feed wet food once and dry food as eaten only. Throw out what she isn't taking at a feeding. You seem to have taught your kitty that food means love and attention. Whoops. Not a good plan. Gather up the toys and keep out the pole and string and feather one. And a ball. YOU have to play with her. Put the toy away when you're done. Then... pet...pet...pet!!! These are NOT really problems. Cat can amuse herself... you have taught her to depend on you... so complaining that she responds isn't fair. This IS just my experience and opinion: the toys and food will never replace your personal attention. We don't live our lives to amuse our companions... but we do OWE them our attention. Teasing her by opening the door seems cruel to me... but again, that's just my opinion. If she starts peeing outside the littlerbox...don't be surprised. Do I sound upset? Yup, I do. Your cat is not human. She's a cat. It would be a kindness to her to change her expectations of you. Being overweight and teased is not something I would enjoy. Gina C.

purina cat meals are awsome, tidy cat works nicely, yet organic cat litters are meant to be by some capacity extra healthy. Cats continually scratch your furnishings in spite of a post, yet I even have introduced in slightly hearth wood interior the wintry climate and had some fulfillment, Toys are different reckoning on your cat. Get a reflective collar basically in case kitty escapes, and characteristic her chipped. Letting an indoor cat outdoors once you're out with them engaged on the backyard etc, can be extremely healthful for kitty. And the suited cat hair eliminating structures contain (yet are no longer limited to) a twig bottle of your popular liquid fabric softner diluted properly to spray quickly on rugs and furnishings in the previous wiping dry, and combing aside the hair, curler tape, puppy hair sponge, and the bissel puppy hair remover or healthful homestead vacuum with the puppy hair wands. IF kitty pees interior the homestead you could desire to get enzymatic cleaners, the quicker you clean up the extra effectual and cut back temptations via ultimate closet doorways and mattress room doorways (if there is carpet) and protecting super potted flora up off the floor..:)

I would switch her to twice daily feedings and get her a treat ball/puzzle so that she can work for her dry food. You could also try leaving small containers of her food throughout the house so that she has to "hunt" for them? It's very possible that she's begging because she's bored and having to work for her food may help?
They sell toys that hook onto doorframes or stick to the window? You might want to try one of those.

well you could be feeding her to much and she got used to it i would say feed her small amouts all day and cats usually do hide their toys thats normal also if she doesnt have one you could get her one of those cat trees made of wood and carpet and to make her have fun you can hide tiny treats around like by the couch or in a hall near every spot she can get to
