Honda Passport leak?

Question

I have a 97' passport and recently when it rains water leaks on the front passeneger side floor when I drive. I also hear water moving on that side when I accelerate and brake I can't figure out where the water is collecting at, can anyone help?

the problem is that the humidity in the air is condensing on your air conditioning evaporator when you run the defroster and that condensed water is not draining out of the evaporator case (the air conditioning runs with the defroster to act as a dehumidifyer to clear the windshield)

the fix is very easy. There is a drain tube that runs from the case that is under the dashboard out through the engine wall. You've probably noticed cars with puddles of water under them when they are parked and thats from the water draining from the air conditioner housing. On your car, the water isn't draining out but rather filling up the case until it overflows into the inside of the car. You need to have the drain tube cleaned out. The easiest way to do that is to have someone with a compressed air hose put a nozzle up the drain tube and blow air up. That will usually clear up the clog and the water will run out.

You'll be best advised to take it to a shop and give a tech $10 to clear the drain tube. If you want to do it yourself and you don't have compressed air, you'll want to find the drain tube first. it will be on the passenger side of the engine compartment, down low, probably behind the steering rack. it will be about 1/2" diameter. Once you find it, you can snake a flexible tube like a straw up into the tube until water starts to flow out. If you're lying on your back under the truck, you are guaranteed to get wet. I'd spend the $10 myself.

one note, if you do try it yourself, don't puncture the drain hose by usinging anything sharp such as a screwdriver or a wire hanger to purge the line; if you cut it you'll have a permanent leak inside the truck. Also, don't pull the hose out or you'll have a pretty big bill to remove the evaporator case to put the hose back on in addition to the permanent water leak.

i'm hoping you regarded at your new motor closley befor you put in it, normaly coolant leakes leave a path down the block, in many cases a white powder substance. yet this could be something from a cracked block to a failed head gasket. I basically wish which you will have forgetten to hoke up maby a small coolant hoes or some thing. the next flow is an autoparts stor and purchase a telescoping inspection mirror, around 10 funds, enable it dry off and start up a seen inspection. a minimum of it isn`t a wiring concern, yet you may desire to be waiting to discover this extremely hardship-free,rember water runs down from the precise so artwork your way up. wish this helps

look under the dash by the passenger side glove box, there is a control box there, a black plastic color, the vents for the outside air sounds like they are not closing collecting in the box, leaking and sloshing around, ck vacuum lines going to it, and inside the box where the filter goes in, for leaves holding it open.
