He has never won a Cy Young dispite a career ERA lower than that of Halladay, Zito, most other Cy Young winners. The Astros just can't give him run support.

Those guys you named put together spectacular seasons when they won. ( I liked Loiaza the year Doc won though) Oswalt's done it a few imes, but he still came up short compared to other pitchers those years.

The Cy Young isn't a lifetime award. It's for the best pitcher in each league for that particular year. And although he's had some great seasons, he's never been better than the fourth or fifth best any of those times.

He's a great pitcher and everyone knows it, so I wouldn't call him under-rated.

His two best years and the winners:
2002: 19-9, 208 K, 3.01 era, 1.19 whip
Randy Johnson that year: 24-5, 334 K, 2.32 era, 1.03 whip

2004: 20-10, 206 K, 3.49 era, 1.25 whip
Clemens that year: 18-4, 218 K, 2.98 era, 1.16 whip
(He wasn't the best on his team in '04!)

yeah i agree

he is is a very good pitcher and has a carrer low era

if the astros gave him better run support then he would have at least 5 more wins its the same thing that happened to clemens when he was with the astros he could of won the cy young but lost alot of great games because he never got run support. The astros just cant help there pitches win, i say put him on any other team in that division and he would have more wins

oswalt would have a way better record if he was with a decent offensive team unlike the astros who have problems scoring all the time

i would think he also might eventualy go to a new team. whats the point of pitching if you cant get any run support

Roy Oswalt isn't worth it surprisingly for Angel Pagan and Delmon youthful who're the two above .3 hundred except you incredibly want a glass and have 2 stable outfielders then it is an ok commerce for group a million. yet group 2 wins positively.

I agree, he is a very good pitcher. You almost wanna feel bad for the guy. His team just can't get him run support which is very unfortunate for Oswalt. I like the guy and think he is a good pitcher. Someone needs to tell the Astros to pick it up and get the guy run support.

Certainly underappreciated.

Lots of pitchers never win a CYA, and usually this is for the simple reason that they never have the best (or, be realistic, the most wins in a) season in the league. It happens.

heck yes he is underated because he is an Astro i mean if he were on the Yankees or Redsox or one of the big teams i think he would get reconized more but since he is on the Astro's i don't think he will ever get as much respect as he deserves unless he is thinking about changing teams.
