1: Run a full anti-virus and spyware scan of your entire machine.

2: Manage what all programs launch on startup. Click Start > Run > Type msconfig > click ok. This will open a System Configuration Utility window that has a tab just for startup. In this window you can disable many of the programs that run at startup. Do you really need adobe update to start when you boot your computer? Use caution and make a note which services you disable. If something does not work you may have to re-enable one of them.

3: If all else fails you may need to reinstall your operating system. Usually you receive a restore disk with the computer. Backup your files to a removable media and restore your operating system.

First, make sure you have an up to date anti-virus and run it. (i prefer the program AVG antivirus...its free and very effective)

Next, make sure you have a good spy/adware remover. Spybot search and destroy and adaware are the most common and free. Update and run both of those.

Finally, sometimes your computer is perfectly clean but there is simply too much running. The best way to speed up your computer is to click "Start" on the bottom left corner of your toolbar....then click "Run" and type in " mcconfig "....it will pop open a window with 5 tabs. Click the left most tabbed named "Startup".....now look at the item name and command name....some may be easily recognized (your antivirus) but most are not necessary. Uncheck the box next to everything but you anti-virus. This will stop most programs from opening when you start your computer.

This should speed up your computer to the best it can be without any actual part upgrades. Good Luck!!

The first thing I would do, is check for spyware. Both of these are free.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

First of all we need to invistage whether the Internet Browsing Speed is slow or the system performance is slow.

If the Internet browsing speed is slow then you need to clear cache, cookies, history and objects from your system then check for the issue if the issue still persist then you need to check for the Anti-Virus Programs installed in your system because all Anti-Virus Programs performs a lot of scan in background which uses the CPU usage and slower down the system. Please disable the Anti-Virus Program and also try to use another Browser and then check for the issue. Most of the time following the steps resolves the issue. If the issue still persist then you need to contact your ISP with the issue slows speed.
If the system performance is slow then you need to reduce the stuffs installed in your system. Then scan for Spyware. Defragment the system. Always clear cache, cookies, history and objects from your system twice in a month. Disable the Anti-Virus program installed in your system then check for the issue. If the issue still persist then you need to add more RAM in order to increase the buffering space.

Check for Spyware with Spybot. (Download from www.spybot.com)

Then Download a program called CleanUp! (http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/) Run this. It deletes temporary files.

Then download AVG Free Edition (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1)

Run all these programs and then when that's all done delete any excess files then go to Start>All Programs>Accesories>System Tools>Then Disk Defragmenter. Voila. Your computer will run much better.
