My husband is a WW2 retired USA vet, and I'm with you.
We had men knocking each other down, to get line to sign up then. They couldn't wait, to stop the enemy in its tracks. Today, a lot of men are just plain cowards, making a lot of verbal noise while some are still trying to do their duty amid all the neg. comments.
We are blessed to have seen the worst and best of what our men are willing to do for their country.
Yes, things for us today would have been a lot different if not for men & women in past conflicts.~~~~jill
There will be wars & rumers of wars, so the Bible says !!!!

First off, it's 63 years ago but that is neither here nor there.
You have a valid point.
Our enemies have learned that if they wait us out, we will go home and declare victory. We've lost 2000 troops over a 4 or 5 year period verses 1/4 million or so that was lost during a similar time frame during WWII. And that's one of the reasons it is very important that our troops stay there until the Iraqis can govern themselves. Pulling out before then would indeed encourage our enemies.
That being said, our enemies in the 1940's were obvious and necessary to defeat. While it's just as important that we defeat today's enemies, I'm not certain that the Iraqis were one of them prior to our invasion.

I agree that we should not just quit, don't compare I hear - you can't compare the two is the reply. Guess what, I just did. 3000 died in NY, we are at war! I don't care if you don't like it or dislike Bush the fact remains we are there! Shut up and help finish the job because pissing your pants isn't going to magically stop this fight even if you don't agree with how we got there.
FACTS:
Iwo Jima was the only Marine battle where the American casualties, 26,000, exceeded the Japanese -- most of the 22,000 defending the island. The 6,800 American servicemen killed doubled the deaths of the Twin-Towers of 9/11.
Guadalcanal - The dead Americans totaled 1,752
The Battle of Belleau Wood - The battle ran from 6-26 June and by its end saw U.S. forces suffer 9,777 casualties, of which 1,811 were fatal.

I made a comment similar to yours on my local news paper's comment page and all the libs in my town tore me a new one, saying that WWII and the issues surrounding it has nothing to do with what the US is doing today, etc. But, I still agree that if these types of people had be alive during the early 40's, the 3rd Reich would be set up in Washington DC and we'd all be speaking German. Hitler may not have attacked the US, but he was going to. He had plans to take over the entire world.

Did you fight in that battle? Have you ever fought in any battle besides trying to get the cap off a beer? Our soldiers are fighting and dying at this very moment so you can sit on your sorry butt and slander them. I am a decorated Viet Nam Veteran with several battles behind me, and I never saw even one lilly livered American soldier. Everyone of them stood their ground. No, you're not bowing at Hitler's feet. Nor or you speaking Vietnamese or Iraqi because of our brave soldiers. You sir are a moron. And an ignorant one at that.

it fairly is a various yet exciting question. we do and we don’t. we omit the a number of greater advantageous programming they did such because of the fact the hot international Order attitude in the initiating or the remarkable bouts featuring Rey Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Benoit. even although, we don't omit the disaster of the organisation that we observed in the later years. WCW ran its course and finally died because of the fact it replaced into poorly controlled. If the organisation have been ran greater advantageous we'd desire to o.k. be watching WCW programming now instead of WWE.

You use the term "lilly livered" rather loosely. I don't know if you've ever seen combat, but I have. Anyman who says he wouldn't stop a war is either a dreamer or a liar or a little of both. This war was founded on poor intelligence and rich lies. This war in no way compares to WWII. If we went after the villain of 9/11, Bin Laden would've been hanged instead of Saddam. Get your facts straight and your nose out of Bush's back pockets.

I agree! It all comes down to the point that we either keep the Terrorist, at bay? Or give them moment to wanna bring their attacks over here. Fortunalty, we have many Thousands of Brave Soldiers. Who volunteer to protect this Nation. And they do us proud. The least we could do is allow them the funding to complete the mission. Star for you!!

It is 63 years, not 43, but the question is interesting. Liberals at the time of WW2 were convinced that Hitler only wanted Europe and would leave us alone. Instead, especially after Pearl Harbor, more intelligent people prevailed and we entered WW2. There is a correlation today. Liberals all forget what happened on September 11, 2001. After all, they didn't lose anybody that day. Liberals are also all cowards and afraid to actually fight to defend this country. If we had left 63 years ago up to Hillary, or Pelosi, or Reid than we would all be speaking German right now and worshiping the Nazi party. If we leave the war on terrorism up to these same idiot custardheads, then we will have terrorist attacks again, and again, and again and again, and these cowards will be hiding under their desks and screaming "why is this happening?"
