While a magnet is immersed in water, it will actually work BETTER.
Most water can conduct electricity. So putting a magnet in water is like wrapping it in a bunch of wiring. It becomes easier for the magnetic field to spread and affect charge through it.

The water has no effect on the magnet, but I challenge you to perform a little experiment. Depending on where you live, if you go turn on the water at your sink and hold a magnet to it, you can move the stream of water.

If you really didn't know the answer to this question, why didn't you just experiment and find out for yourself? What a goof!
